Virtual Urgent Care: healthcare at your fingertips

The introduction of Virtual Urgent Care (VUC) is just one of the many ways Remedi is innovating to meet members' evolving needs. This new service, available exclusively through the new Remedi Health App, is designed to make urgent healthcare more accessible, convenient and cost-effective for members and their families.

What is Virtual Urgent Care?

Virtual Urgent Care is a digital healthcare solution that lets members consult qualified healthcare professionals through secure video calls, without leaving home. Whether it's a sudden illness, minor injury, or an urgent health concern, VUC ensures that members receive timely care without the stress of travelling to a clinic or hospital.

How does it work?

Starting 1 December 2025, members can access VUC through the Remedi Health App, which is available for download on the IOS and Google Play stores. Once logged in to the app, members can book a virtual consultation with a healthcare professional, describe their symptoms and receive guidance or prescriptions where appropriate.

When should you use VUC?

For urgent but non-life-threatening care needed after-hours or during weekends - such as side effects from prescribed medication, non-severe insect bites or stings, mild allergic reactions, or nausea and vomiting without signs of dehydration. Cover details based on your chosen benefit option

Each family has access to a set number of consultations each year, depending on the chosen benefit option.

Consultations that are considered urgent will be funded from the Virtual Urgent Care Benefit, subject to the limit applicable to your chosen benefit option. Non-urgent care is funded from your available day-to-day benefits.

Benefit Option How you're covered
Remedi Comprehensive 4 virtual urgent care sessions per family per year covered subject to clinical entry criteria. Any additional sessions, or sessions that don't meet the criteria, are paid from available day-to-day benefits.
Remedi Classic 3 virtual urgent care sessions per family per year covered subject to clinical entry criteria. Any additional sessions, or sessions that don't meet the criteria, are paid from available day-to-day benefits.
Remedi Standard 3 virtual urgent care sessions per family per year covered subject to clinical entry criteria from the Out of Area (OOA) rand limit of R2,300 per person. Any sessions that don't meet the criteria will also be subject to the Out of Area (OOA) limit of 3 visits and a limit of R2,300 per person.
