Medical specialists

A specialty in medicine is a branch of medical science. After completing medical school, physicians or surgeons usually add to their medical education in a specific specialty of medicine by completing a multiple year residency. Medical practitioners who take on a medical specialty are known as medical specialists.

If your specialist sees you in-hospital

Remedi pays up to the Scheme Rate on the Comprehensive and Classic options and up to the Scheme Rate on the Standard option, subject to the overall annual limit. You must confirm your hospital admission.

If your specialist sees you out-of-hospital

On the Comprehensive and Classic options, Remedi pays for specialist consultations from your available Insured Out-of-Hospital benefit, subject to the sub-limit and overall annual limit.

If you are registered on the Standard option, your Remedi Standard Option network general practitioners must refer you to a Specialist to access the benefit. Remedi will then pay the Specialist up to the Scheme Rate, subject to the sub-limits and overall annual limit.
